Very sorry to hear - I presume you're consulting with docs as (the internet says) this pain has a cause. You've been around a while so I assume you don't have form problems that could be addressed, but it never hurts to have a checkup?

Squats come to mind, mixed with romanians or GHRs to target the hamstrings. OP might yet pressure the hips and lower back, but if not, that's a whole-body movement a lot of people don't focus on.

I'm pretty amateur though.

Squats also aggravate the piriformis muscle that the sciatic nerve runs through.
Doing an improper Romanian back in the day is what started this whole mess.
I never liked Romanians...thought they put unnecessary pressure on the lower spine.
Will have to research further

I admit when I do romanians my lower back isn't always thrilled - for me the key was really engaging the abs when doing them, but I keep them light too.

Definitely out of my league issue - but my gf has diagnosed hip pain, which this reference has started me doing some research - thanks for that.

Luck to you, hope you get some expert / educated / fruitful input. My not-the-same experience with injuries has made my warm up routine borderinline yoga with an emphasis on ankle mobility, core/abs strength, and hamstring engagement. Sounds like not your issue or area. I do consider myself lucky to have been pursuing strength, as in diagnosing my problems, I've run into basic lifestyle, form, and muscle imbalance issues. For me that's good news, both for the long-term program, but also so I age without the long-term spine-snapping that my bad posture and poor habits might have allowed to morph into a range of horrible "age related" pains and impairments.
